Another plant growing in the school ground out here at cecil plains, gorgeous flowers but very sharp foliage

Hi Hornet,

This plant is a Calothamnus from W.A. It looks to me like Calothamnus quadrifidus. I believe Pup has done some work with them.

Sorry no on the seed raising still looking for a decent plant to try C, quadrafidus are very easy to grow and they are fast. At my age seeds are not a viable option.

Cheers, all i found is they are easy to sow so will just see what happens with them. Love the flowers on these plants, hadnt seen them before this

These are great species as bonsai. I tend to grow them in "pine" styles as needles shorten well and they bud back on old wood. Make sure you choose 2 x 2 method or they thicken up.
They tolerate wire well. There was one displayed at AABC Convention in Perth in May that was only 4 years old.
