Hi there crazy kids!!!

I have a Buxus Harlandii (Harlands Box)> The trunk is reasonably thick (about say 1 inch at the base) which I woyld imagine is quite thich for this species. I know it is slow growing but the growth on this has just been "too" slow. I have really looked after it since I have had it and I pound it with dynamic lifter. For anyone who has experience with this species, should I perhaps use a special media mix?? I am just using regular bonsai mix. I have also incorporated osmocote control release from time to time as well as seasol and seasol powerfeed.

Also ,If anyone has any photos of their own where the trunks are thick I would really appreciate a photo. Would love to see your creation!!

I have one of these in training and its been going strong for about 1 year now, and i use the same fert as your just posted and i have just really got alot of shoot not trunk girth.
I'm still a novice but i think time is the key with this species, the Buxus and Box family are all slow growers, even with sh*t loads of fert.
Keep doing what your doing, maybe in the ground could help thicken it more if thats what your after.
I dont have any Progression photos sorry.

Oddly enough I have one of these buxus, and for those who know my likes, having a plant with leaf as foliage on it it in my collection is something of a rareity !!

I have had this plant for about 6 or so years, and to be honest did nothing with it, apart from watering it without any fertiliser `till about a month ago.

It was incredibly root bound and was still in the 8 inch t I purchased it in untill I did a foliage and root prune that fatefull Sunday a few weeks back, then it got a drink of Seasol afterwards.

Seems everyone loves the bark on it......................to be honest its ok, just not my cup of tea for plant material, but to each their own of course !!

Hey Thanks Pat and Paul for your input. Pat, I think you're right. Like you mate, I have a lot of shoot growth but not much in the way of growth on the girth of the trunk, but tomorrow morning (just as a precaution)I will pull the root ball out of the pot and (a) check for curl grubs and (b) see if it is in fact pot bound although I doubt it.

Paul, great specimen if you ask me. !!! A lot thicker than mine that's for sure and thankyou very much for uploading your photos.
