This tree has been growing in my front yard for 8 years. It has been pruned regularly so it does not exhibit its natural shape. I beleive in is a Melaleuca.
If anyone can identify the species I would greatly appreciate it.

Sorry, but really keen to foind about this one. It does have a paperbark like a Melaleuca or Callistemon.

G,day Steve I thought the horticulturists, or Botanists would have come in by now.

I have been looking in my Books, and as near as I can see it is Possibly Melaleuca decora.
As it is a Eastern states tree. From the southern regions
The discription fits.

Cultivation
This hardy shrub / small tree is spectacular in flower, as the leaves are obscured by fluffy white flowers.
It will except wet soils but will tolerate drier conditions, full sun is recomended, propagation is easy from seed.

Worth trying cuttings as I have found most Mels will strike well from cuttings.

nice mel mate, the flowers are not packed into a pom pom or bottle brush like most mels, very nice plant
