Hi all
I'm hoping to hear good news, i think i've made a mistake, i have a peppercorn tree growing in my garden to thicken the trunk, well the trunk is thick enough now so i wanted to cut it down to size and let some shoots grow out so i can wire one up as a new leader, that was about 1 1/2 weeks ago and there are no buds expanding or anything, i did also cut all the big roots but there was a lot of fibrous roots but i've read that you have to have leaves to draw sap in an evergreen, does it look like i've killed it ?

Peppercorns are very slow to come back but, in my experience, you can cut them right back and they will bud again. They can be touchy though after a root prune. Dont throw it away in haste, it could take a while
