Thought I'd share the story behind these trees,

These trees belonged to my grandfather who has had them for 20 + yrs and now I'm lucky enough to get his first tree which sparked his passion for bonsai.

The trees been through a lot (has been bare rooted for the past 5+ yrs sitting in the yard not being cared for) and even moved from Townsville to Melbourne and back. I've spent the day looking through Photos of thousands of his trees majority were different maples and pines species.
My Grandfather sold his collection when he moved back up from Melbourne more than 10 yrs ago, and only brought the ones he had a connection with. So as you know maples don't like it here and all he was left with was a JBP and these 2 figs.

Until today I didn't know the full extent of his passion for bonsai and to be honest we have never had a great deal to talk about me being 19 and all. But today was great!, After a year of researching and trying for myself, we had so much to talk about. I left overloaded with knowledge gifts and inspiration ( Also got his bonsai book collection),

So this afternoon I put them in pots, trimmed any dead twigs off, gave them a good soak and liquid fert, letting them restore some health before I start to do any styling.

Any styling advice is more than welcome, maybe some inspirational stories would help too ;)

Looking forward to hearing your stories and any styling advice you may have
Cheers thanks for reading
