hi everyone
i thought i'd post a update on the two black pines. they have been left to grow, unintentionally , for the last two years. i have made the time to rework the branck structures and doing the Spring needle thinning and candle selection. the needle length are too long for it's been left unattended. i will now feed the trees in preparation for Summer pruning of the first flush of growth. will update again in Autumn hopefully with much shorter needles. regards

Lovely pines and they're a credit to you. Each tells a story of it's own and I have to say that slanting pine is exceptional.

thanks David, the slanting bunjin is one of my favourite.
well, here is another one done today. it was an uninteresting pine with a straight trunk with a kink toward the top of the tree. i made an effort to straighten it five years ago by spliting the kink and wrapped with heavy wire. well, it got straighter but not by much. then it was styled last year with the first left branch being brought up to become the second trunk, just to make it a bit more interesting. and today just fine wired the whole lot and i am not 100% happy with it( might totally jin the second left branch mid way up the trunk and shorten and lighten the right branches in time). but enough for now.

HI everyone
i have had a bit too much time on my hand in the holidays as everyone is still on the holiday break and i have the whole nursery to myself. i can finally do why i do bonsai - work on tree just for the enjoyment of it. this japanese black pine will be the fourth tree in the last 5 days to be restyled and one proved to be most challanging so far. the tree stand at 80cm tall and i don't like the top part of the tree, thought about cutting it back and take up a new apex. finally decided on bending it back to the left and try to push it down to about 70cm. the photos tell the process, had to under cut quite a few branches to get the downward angles. i will show you the end result in a couple of day

hi everyone
well, here is the end result. the height is reduced to 75cm, not the 70cm i was aiming for. will let the tree recover now and let the apex grow a bit more to get the fullness that i wanted. regards
