I would like to join a Bonsai Club in Sydney. I am looking for a busy one so that more trees to appreciate and more people to chat to in meetings. I don't mind travelling.

Any suggestions?

The School of Bonsai is the only one I have been to

I attend the Advanced class on Tuesday night along with up to 15 otheres depending on the week. Wednesday also has an advance Class but I do not kno w how many

Monday is intermediate, Thursday is beginners,.

Classes are 0n during the day as well but I do not know when sorry

I am sure you can drop in and check us out, but I would give Clinton a call first to have a chat

Illawarra Bonsai Club ( a historical misnomer as they are based at Gymea) is a very active club and are hosting the AABC Convention next year. Chock full of experienced bonsai people and they also have an annual weekend away at Stanwell Tops. I have attended every one since its inception 10 or more years ago and plan to keep going.

Hey Asus101 are you refering to the table that was making all the noise at the dinner, If so, sorry about that but we where having a great time, you should have come over & joined in or at least had a glass of red cordial with us.

Where abouts in Sydney do you live BonBon, we may be able to point you in the right direction, to your closest club.

By the way the Tops Conferance this year will be as fun as ever, I know, Im on the commity.

I'm only just finding out how easy it is to express ones opinion here. Join in the debate on the RAS' decision to ban privet at the Royal Easter for example.

But as for Busy Sydney Club, for Bon Bon who doesn't mind travelling. The answer is to do just that and visit them all. They will all claim to be the busiest or friendliest.

I have tried to find a site that used to list them all but failed, only to be reminded that there still exist some who do not have a web presence I believe.

The Bonsai society of Australia has currently had a recruitment drive, meets in West Pennant Hills, First Tuesday of the month. The School of Bonsai has all the activities/bonhomie of a club but operates as a school. Meets at North Rocks to the educational calendar up to nine 3 hour sessions per week. Contact the president Clinton Nesci via the Ray Nesci Bonsai Nursery. You could also try the Pymble Study Group, or the Cumberland Bonsai Group, Jump in the car and give them a try. These are all on the north side if it helps; much as I like Grant, and the many good people down south.

I am also a member of The School Of Bonsai. I have not been to any other schools/clubs, but must say im really impressed by the amount of work the teachers pack into each lesson, for virtually nothing! The cost is minimal, and only covers the hiring of the room, as the teachers (Clinton Nesci and a few other VERY talented artists) dont get payed to teach. I have learnt of some pretty amazing techniques, as well as scored some freebies from class. Ray Nesci even pops in for a chat sometimes!

Yes! That's the one I had only visual recall it to, when I went looking for Bon Bon! He/She is probably in the car by now!
