[360˚] Ficus eugenoides

Post by Tony Bebb »

G'day All

I have posted my Multiple Trunk Fig for 360 viewing
360 Multi Fig 6June2012 (37) (Medium).JPG
You can find it here https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/360/Ficus_e_tb
There are more pics on my Blog here https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/blog/TonyBe ... trunk-fig/ and this will be updated regularly.

The purpose of this is so I can see my tree better, as it is time for some more work on this tree. I have had this one for a while at this stage, and have known for a couple of years that it is time for the next stage in development. It is easy to put it off when it will involve 7 or 8 hours wiring. I feel it is time to elavate this tree to the quality of the Taiwanese Figs, and to create more layers of compact growth. I plan on posting another 2 x 360's of this tree so you can see the work. 1 when wiring is completed, (but don't rush me  ) and the other after a year or so with the 'new' tree.

Hope you enjoy

Tony

G'day Tony. what a great look looking tree, i feel you have captured how a fig looks in the wild. I have just started a new job down in norhtern NSW and there is a fig right beside the road that looks almost most the same as this one. Well done. I really dig these 360 view should be more of em.
Cheers Mark

That fig wouldn't be near the sugar mill at Condong would it?

yes Hacki, isn't that one a corker , not exactly the same but the how they grow in the the wild with all the multi trunks. The one at Condong has a more fluted base.

Thanks Guys

Would love to see a photo of that Fig. Think I know the one but haven't been that way for a while. Big one similar also I remember out back of Warwick near Wylies Creek. Saw it years ago and sorta modelled this one on it. Have to go back and get a pic of that one.

What a tool this 360 view is.

I look at this tree every day, but I can see it better than ever in these photos. It has always bugged me that you can see 7 trunks in the bark, but it looks more like 5 in the photo from the front. I changed the front slightly a few years back, but as they thicken they all blend together again.
Then I found this front from the photos

What do you think? I think the front may change again.

Once the right hand side fills in it will balance out beautifully.

This fig is probably my favourite example of where Australian bonsai is going. Great Job.
