camellia in flower

Post by PeterH »

Saved from the garden 2004. It has big leaves and flowers but it is still pretty this time of the year.

Regards,

Peter

This is beautiful! The tree is fantastic and the flowers just add to the beauty of it all. I would love a camellia like this in my collection.

 :o

oh my! Peter! Seriously, you need to charge people and allow them to come on a tour of your trees. The PeterH tour!

But if I could ever see your trees in person I would love it Peter. I just love seeing anything you update. :tu2:

And if I may say so..... in my opinion that pot is perfect for that tree. That is a match made in the garden of Canberra. Is there any history or story on that pot? It is a lovely pot.

I have never had any interest in Camelia or Gardenia as bonsai, but that has opened my eyes -----> :o
Though, the smell of Gardenia in flower is so pleasant, and also Daphne. I have a Daphne as a pot plant in the middle of my collection, just so when it flowers, it releases the most beautiful fragrance in the world, as you work on your bonsai.

I style Bonsai naturally, just as they would appear in the wild.

Lovely tree Peter.
The issue of the larger leaves and flowers is fixed by making a larger tree out of it :tu2: :tu:

congratulations on this one

Hi Peter,
Your tree would look good on any bench, especially with that lovely pot underneath.
Great work.

Thanks for the kind feed back.

To answer a few of the questions the tree is 70cm high and 100cm wide.

The Pot ?

The pot was originally attached to my large Banksia serrata I had bought from Roger, the owner of what was then (2005) Cambewarra bonsai nursery.

At the time he did not want to sell the pot with the tree, as he said it was an expensive Japanese pot. It was to much trouble to re pot on short notice so the pot came with the tree.

As I worked more on the Banksia over the years I decided that the tree did not suit the pot and was more suited to a flowering tree.

Kind Regards,

Peter

Hi Peter, thanks for the size. I have one also rescued, been in a pot on my dads verandah for over 20 years. Been looking at it for awhile now. Wasn't sure how far to cut back. Your meaurements give me a good guide line to start with.
I can not imagine a Banksia in that pot. I think the Camilia and pot go hand in hand. Great job.
Cheers

Wow what an amazing tree.

I have unfortunately lost all the camellia's I have tried to dig out of gardens, and find them to be very temperamental.
Could you please let me know the process involved and the aftercare, as I’m interested to see what I have been doing wrong?
Cheers
