Same; got Ume budding now, from Neil I thought they were white but look pink, might be like Daluke's above

Also got some quinces budding, chojubai red, chojubai white and one from treeman I got at YVBS sale I have no idea what colour the flowers will be so that will be fun to find out

Also got a small satsuki Nikko about to go bunta with flowers, and then later more prunus to begin too

Here we go, these were closed this morning when i left but are open now.

I picked up 3 young prunus mume from Shibui at the North West show a few weeks back. This is the first one to bud, the photo doesn't show it very well but the flower is it's the palest pink colour. Very pretty and super happy with it. They will all get potted up, cuttings taken and just keep them growing for the future.

The smell is incredible

A bit of warm climate makes a big difference. Buds are showing white but still tightly closed up here in the cooler foothills.
I did see some Chojubai flowers but as they flower almost year round I hadn't even considered those worthy of photos. Maybe when the rain stops I'll contribute something here.

Saw some flowers from two of my mume's today.

Would have never thought to smell them if not for Daluke's suggestion, so thank you for that. The smell is very intense and unique.

One of these was from Shibui, the other from Moon Gate. Both are likely going into a grow bed in the ground this spring to thicken up.



I'll keep these out of the rain for the next few days. Really want to see it in full flower.

Your one from Shibui is much more clearly white than mine, very cool!

A visit to moon gate is booked for Monday morning, super keen to see what they have there.

That's interesting given those trees are all cuttings from the same parent tree.
Possibly difference of colour when the flower fades?
Possibly difference from ambient light or reflected light?
Difference due to nutrition or other care factors?
Highly unlikely to be genetic changes given these are all cuttings.

I think most likely fading flower Neil the pink is very pale so it would make sense

I think lighting as well. I just had another look and took some pictures under the same lighting conditions.

I understand the appeal of prumus mume now. Can't wait to have one ready for refinement (hopefully in my lifetime).

Its that time of year when Leptospermum scoparium starts to be covered in flowers.

Such a beautiful time of year for so many natives.

All my phebaliums will be in flower in a few weeks too. Their soft yellow colours are amazing.
But the prolific flowering of Leionema will be wonderful to see.

I was kind of hoping to see some people posting their Bonsai'd Grevilleas in flower.
