Finally cleaned up my act

Post by Rory »

My mother in law thought the back area looked really bad and in need of a make-over. So my father in law made me 3 custom requested sized benches. I cannot begin to explain how lucky you are when you have a father in law who is Superman. Awesome!

Then I needed to apply multiple coats of this:

Which meant I was able to transform this mess:

into this:

Which means it takes me less than a quarter of the time to check if they need watering, and doesn't wreck my back picking up and inspecting 100 pots.
This inevitably means I can spend more time with these:

This is clearly so cool, that I now can stand as cool as my:

We can also live the high life, with spaghetti, grapes and a drumstick all at the same time. Livin' the dream!

Or just spend more time with your beautiful son, on a proposed lovely sunny day in Newcastle beach that turns into a freezing cloudy blizzardness.

So, now I can enjoy the free time, and indulge in lifes greatest consumable gifts:

Great tidy up-even better when you don't have to do them yourself!
Also looks like Perfect height for the kids to enjoy.

You have it all wrong - you now have more time to water more trees. You should have asked him for 6 benches

No, I definitely have it right in my mind. I have come down from having 230 trees. I have given away 130 trees to friends / work colleagues / bonsai club members, and am very happy with leaving it at 100.

Yeah, I gladly stocked up on his casys. In my experience, when u find something good...buy it, don't procrastinate. Grant Bowie is a good example of that. So is my wife ;)

Yes, I wish the kids were ready yet, but all in good time. The benches took forever to get ready... A lot of driving, carrying, banging, painting.... But sitting down with a comfy chair in front of them makes it all worth it.

Unfortunately I got very, very ill about 2002 and I couldn't get out of bed. I was asleep about 18 hours a day with a respiratory illness and pneumonia, and I lost nearly all my stock which was on a balcony including old huon pines and swampys and some great mels, but it was right in summer and they baked when I didn't have the energy to properly maintain, as I was at my mothers place for many weeks asleep. I had almost 100 small trees on a balcony.

On the positive side, I have had to restart all over again and thus have started with all new stock that you can break in hard. You also get to utilize all that you have learnt to start with better stock initially and go hard at first. I used to have a lot of exotics too, but I know better now, and much more appreciate the beautiful all year round beauty of natives over the more colourful flowering exotics. Besides, I have lantana and bougainvillea for colour now, they are my exotic exceptions.

No, the beer is definitely right, it is the oldest brewery in the world.... They do know a few things about good beer.

Well done Rory, great father in law and a good crew of future assistants. Although I am with Bougy Fan , you can never have enough benches. Cheers John.
