Wow, that's impressive growth Terry. I like the contrast between the rough, lower bark , the smooth white branches and the red tips. Looking forward to future developments.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to remove the dead stumps. Dead branches are a major part of a Eucalyptus, look into any wild tree and the branches are covered in dead stumps and jins, particularly on the underside.

Matt.

Good progress in less than a year. For me, there's a hole in the middle, so I would cut hard again to keep the greenery down near the old trunks (sorry Rory!). Lovely bark colours, and interesting wire effects - I do mostly clip and grow. And I like dead bits on a Euc - always a good element.

Traditionally, that space is intentionally left for "little koala bears to fly through" ? :D

All the best,

And that right there is one of the greatest pieces of advice on this site, not just for Eucs, but for all trees in development.
I do style differently to Gavin, but this wisdom is seldom enacted.
It usually takes a decade of patience to truly understand this.
But once you do, you allow the tree to open a raw style.

I style Bonsai naturally, just as they would appear in the wild.

Great progress Terry ,building up to a terrific tree. As Gavin and Rory have mentioned we now wait for the randomness that mother nature will throw your way. Looking forward to next update. Cheers John.

Thanks for your comments KC&R, Gavin, Mark, John, Rory and Matt,

I have enjoyed watching this tree grow.

From memory this was a feature of the tree from which I collected the seed - the photos are somewhere.. :lost:

I agree that deadwood is a feature of eucalypts and I like the way it looks. Here is a closer look at the base and deadwood. It seems the centre has died back on at least one of the trunks so possibly a semi-hollow trunk in the future.
