(Not Updated)[Bebbas] Eucalyptus erythrocorys
Well, here goes nothing. Being an absolute beginner I am in just hoping I might learn something. And hey, you never know, I might even get a nice tree out of it if I don't kill the poor little darlin first!
Eucalyptus erythrocorys
Purchased today from Zanthorrea Nursery in Perth
It is 500mm tall
And it cost me $16.95

Re: [Bebbas] Eucalyptus erythrocorys
Thanks for the kind words Jason.
I am going to have to do a pretty hard trunk chop on this one to get it's height down so I am shaking in my boots at the moment

As long as you've picked a tree that responds well to chopping, then don't worry about it. Look on the bright side - chop + cutting = 2 trees from 1! In another year or two, they might both be great bonsai, and if you're just starting it never hurts to have a few more to work on.
Cheers, Karl

From what I've read on Eucs, they are extremely hard to take root from cuttingslackhand wrote:As long as you've picked a tree that responds well to chopping, then don't worry about it. Re: [Bebbas] Eucalyptus erythrocorys
Update
Well,it survived the chop so I am still in the game. I took a couple of small early shoots off because they werent playing the game correctly and coming out where I wanted them but the ones now are pretty good. Just letting it do whatever it wants at the moment as the growing weather isnt all that good. The leaves are a bit big but I will worry about that a little later.I just need some good branching at this point.
Oh the pressure

Re: [Bebbas] Eucalyptus erythrocorys
The leaves are quite large on them, as are the flower pods as well, but the leaves may reduce... I've never really seen if they do or notBebbas wrote:Update

I've got one in a bonsai pot at the moment, and he's going strong depsite my mistreatment... but it still looks like crap lol I'm hoping some miracle will happen and give it awesome movement and taper

Most Eucs will reduce leaves I think quite well.

Re: [Bebbas] Eucalyptus erythrocorys
Haven't touched this since the last update. I have just been waiting for a bit of warmth and sunshine. Should be able to attempt some leaf reduction now.
The upside is its still alive

Hey Jason, how is your tree doing? I just bought one so I'm curious as to how yours is growing. Any tips would be appreciated.
