That is a lovely tree Peter. Great photography too.

The lighting in your photograph sets this tree off beautifully (and it is a beautiful tree to boot!). I have a lot to learn when it comes to emulating this kind of quality.... both in terms of the tree and your photography! Really nice...

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Thanks for all the feedback.
I am much happier with the new direction of this tree. Its the first tree I have put time into since my failed trip to Japan.
Kind Regards,
Peter

Re: Scotts Pine 7 years on
This is an excellent thread.
I really like this progression. From page 1 to now. It really helps us amateurs understand what is possible in a relatively short time.
Interesting - on page three - you have a set pf photo's and I was taken by the 225 degree view as a possible front ... I think this is now your front. Is that correct? Or is it a trick of the photo? I only ask because others were suggesting 135 degree view. It's not about being right or wrong - I am simply interested in where you landed.
Cheers,
Mark

You are correct the front is close to 225 which is the old back. There is so many options with this I have settled on this front for now and with a repot I will do some finer adjustments.

Peter

Hi Peter
Thanks for a great read and outcome, I like the final pot selection suits the tree and gives it punch
