Nice work, I love it's natural weathered appearance. Like its put up with years of heavy snow falls.

Good to see the thought processes as they happen - very useful. Are you planning how they will sit together yet, or will you sort that out when you pot them together?

An inkling Gavin. The two larger, weatherbeaten trees on a hill by themselves and the smaller healthier trees in a grove and a little lower and to the right.

I think they might be albertianas Bodi. Difficult species! good luck...

Word of warning; the few remaining branches that you are leaving on each tree will now thicken dramatically with the spring growth and so you will have to keep an eagle eye on the wire cutting in.

So far, the 1st one is in a higher visual league than the other 2 in my opinion. Still it will be fun to see this completed.

I did some work on this project today and made the decision to put the two main trees together so they can GEL. I do not have a pot large enough as yet and will search while i work on the next group of trees. I will then do the same with the smaller trees. I think it will help me plan the next move on how they will all fit together. I did the same with the two larger trees (sat them next to each other) and that gave me insight as to how they will "fit" together. Not great photos as the trees are large (nearly a metre tall) and will need help to get them to my photographic area. All input, good or bad, always appreciated.

I have a lot of backbudding going on with these (see pic's) and once the branch is where i want them length wise i end tip the new growth which encourages back budding.They will always look their best with new growth popping and i will work towards that look.
