chris FANTASTIC development in a short time. i remember christen sending me a photo when it was given to you. i like the design alot. my figs grow very slowly here now compared to cq. -2 forecast here tonight so there still in the hothouse. i guess thats the compremise for nice decidious and fruiting bonsai. again great job. hows the new place going?

Christan is very pleased with the development of this tree, in the next couple of years it should come into its own. Matt, the new house isn't great but have plenty of room for the trees.

A very nice tree C.A.R. You have done nice work with this. I would love to see an update when it ramifies more.

Tops work with the development. I'm hoping to achieve something similar with one of my own. :tu:

Thanks so much for the update Chris. A wonderful tree any would gladly have on their benches.

Great to see the progression too - this is a good reminder of the benefits of recording a tree's progression.

I notice you have wired the recent update. How long would you expect to keep these on before removing, consireing they are secondary and tertiary branches?

Lovely work

There is only one answer to how long does the wire stay on and that is as long as it is needed or starts cutting in. On the fig I'm not to worried about the wire cutting in a little as it growws out readily.

Obvious answer Chris :palm:

Just wondered if you'd have to take it off within this summer growing season. I suppose it also depends on how much it is fed and thickens too....

Stewart, most of our figs I have to rewire at least once in a growing season some times twice (except the larger branches which may go through a season). This tree was rewired in August and again December and probably need adjustments to most of the wiring in late March. It takes a bit of time as we have about 30 figs in our collection, from ones that take 10 minutes to remove and rewire to the benji 'Midnight' which takes up to 8 hours to do. You gotta love what your doing.
