bonsai covering

Post by toohey »

Hi All,
I live in Sydney area.
My question is: Is it necessary to cover bonsai to help them cope with the summer sun?
If Bonsai are adequately watered is any covering really necessary as they are trees?
Regards,
Michael

Pines are OK, but deciduous trees get leaves burnt off
I have mine under some eucalyptus trees and they cope well until we get the hot westerlies, Then tend to get dried out around the edges

Is the reason the leaves get burnt because the particular trees are not suitable to such hot sun such as maples.
I presume natives should be OK?
Has anyone else constructed cover over their trees?
