Shohin Bottle brush in a hurry

This little project came from a cutting when I was re styling one of my larger bottle brush. It was struck as a cutting on 17=01=2009.

Here are some progression shots of the process. Now the tree today 18=03=2010 14 months later.
Roots are coming out of the bottom of the pot it will need re potting next bud burst.
Which will be about 3 weeks from now. Will post it being done.

I hope you like it it still has some way to go but is getting there pretty quick.

Beautiful work as always pup. I wouldnt have thought a cutting as mature as this would have taken. Gives me more ideas for the future.

G,day Matt yes they are one of the trees that work well from cuttings and quickly. The tops of the Bottle brush is very dominant so you have to take it off sometimes to keep the tree neat
Here is one I took off the top of the tree in Canberra's collection, it is 4 years old notice the foliage is also reducing as well. No I have not defoliated it is just natural attrition as I prune it.
I cant find my double a battery for size comparison. So give them a try larger cuttings that is not Battery's

Up date of one of the Shohin bottlebrush cuttings this one was taken on the 19th of March 2010.

This is it today I will take another when in full flower soon.

Awesome Pup, they look amazing. It looks like when you prepare the cutting you leave a stub of wood protruding down lower than the bark (not cut flat across the bottom) is that correct?

I just bought a little bottom heated propagation matt so I am trying to do a few fatter cuttings and hopefully make some little mame if they take

And questions on how easy bottle brushes take? Do they require any major care when trying to stike them? and how fat can you go?
I have never really herd of natives getten taken from a cutting?

Still not in flower we have had some cooldays and quite a bit of rain lately so it has slowed it down a bit, about another week or two.
