A few months back I gave this little pine a serious prune.
I was unsure how well it would come back, but I am relieved to see lots of new buds just starting to open
The last picture is a virt with the lower left branch removed. Should it stay or go?

Firstly, great little tree.
IMO you should keep the lower left branch. As bodhi said, let it grow a little longer.
The other observation that I would make its to let a bud/branch on the back of the trunk run free a bit. I think that the image as a whole would benefit greatly from a little fattening in the trunk.

I will think about this branch for a bit longer, the pic does not show very well that there is a thinner branch about 1cm higher which could be brought down to fill the space and open up the canopy a bit at the same time.
