MY FIRST DIG.......HELP!!!

Post by Luke308 »

Hi there, I'm going on my first dig this weekend for Pines and I was hoping on some advice on what to bring tool-wise and how to bring the trees home safely (as its a good 90min drive home). Do i need foam boxes or pots or buckets? Or should I wrap in plastic or old sheets tied with string? So far I have a trusty old Mattock, a Pick, Shovel, pruning saw, fork and pruning shears. Should I bring a container of water? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance :D

The links were helpful, but the thing I'm most concerned about is what to put them in (besides sheet with seasol) to A) get them home safely and B) Once they are home and recovering?
Also is there any special treatment with pines in particular? How far can you cut back a pine before it won't regrow? These are more the thing I was aiming for.

Also the wiki-link on how to prepare for a dig is a little on the bare side, maybe someone could add to it who has had heaps of experience? :lost:

Thanks guys and gals
