Upright to Semi-Cascade Willow Leaf Ficus

Post by The Ficus Guy »

Hey all,

This next tree I'm sharing is one that's been in my collection for over 6 months now. It has been featured in an article by Jerry Meislik, which you can see how the tree looked originally by seeing this link:

My tree is the first one pictured. Anyway, I have been working with this guy and trying to get new buds to pop all up and down the trunk, but for some reason this guy never wanted to backbud as much as my others. So here is a picture of it after that picture was sent to Jerry:

I then removed another upper section of the tree:

I had hoped to get a bud to pop somewhere up higher on that trunk, but after weeks of no signs of any buds, I cut it back to this, and from here I plan on training that lower left branch into a semi-cascade:

Just thought I'd share. Thanks all.

I wasn't really sure how to grow indoors and wasn't in my 'groove', so I'd say it was probably a lack of light/poor growing environment.
