Thinking we are getting our knickers in a knot and not liking it so kiss and make up.
Back to it on Ficus and DL it is made from Chicken Poo, and unless it is controlled at the point of manufacture it is variable to the extent Graeme has mentioned.
Prolonged use of it will send the soil Alkaline ( read the manufacturers guide ). So trees that do not like an Alkaline soil IE as has been noted in this thread Azaleas.
Will curl up and pass on.
Ficus on the other hand I have found love it.
Growing figs where it gets cold at night is not easy, I have built a shade house up against the super six fence on the east side so it gets plenty of heat. On the top I have alsynite sheeting along with some 25% shade cloth for summer protection( it get to 50% +) in the summer months, so plenty of water is the order high humidity.
In the winter it drops to 5 at night no water only during the day about midday. I have found under this regime they grow all year. I can and do where necessary defoliate starting in October and have just stopped, as we are still getting temps of 36% .
It is playing allsorts of tricks with our deciduous trees, I have resorted to Ice blocks and Ice water trying to get some colour for next Mays show.
Cheers Mates Pup
