flowering almond suckers, (or some sort of prunus)

Post by paddles »

I have been passing this house for years, loving the display that a flowering almond shrub makes, I never caught the owner home to ask permission to dig a piece up, however today (out of season I know) I caught him home, I came home with 5 decent suckers. I"ve got them soaking in a bucket of seasol. now, am I better to trim down the tops? trim back the roots to something managable? or leave them long and just fold and tuck them into a pot, although I plan to put some in the ground, some in pots etc.

any advice?
