Now the BSV show at Box Hill is over we can focus on Canberra Bonsai Society Show - next weekend.

Shibui Bonsai has booked a sales table so come and say hi. We're looking forward to catching up with friends and meeting new ones.

We'll bring up a range of species and sizes from $6 starters to $200 advanced trunks. We can only bring a limited amount of stock so if you've got any particular requests let us know before we load up on Thursday afternoon.

Shibui,

I could do with another Trident with a nice even root spread and a low bend, also any JBP with nice surface roots and a low branch or two? If you have any really interesting rocks with Tridents ROR?

I'll be doing a demo on Sunday afternoon 2-3pm, probably on deciduous work for this time of year. I am looking at using a medium sized stock Trident from Shibui or a Chinese Elm that has a good framework but needs some big branch cuts, a ground layer and a couple of years growth.

I've got some really good root over rock tridents ready but you'll need to be quick. The ones I took down to Box hill were all gone on Friday night - bought up by club members and a certain retailer (see Gerards pics!). Prices must be too cheap :?: :!:
There's black pines from small $6 trees up to a couple in poly boxes at $150 each. Roots on the larger trees are still growing after digging from the grow beds 15 months ago but impressive bases and plenty of branches to choose from.
Tridents also from $6 to $200, maybe a bit dearer if I put in some really good ones. Most have great root spread but not sure about low bends in the bigger ones. Will have to see what goes into the load.

Look forward to catching up again Scott. I've got the Sunday morning demo/talk. Seeing that its mostly aimed at informing Joe Public I thought I'd keep it to bonsai basics while working on one of the shimpaku I've picked out.

They tell me there will be plenty of great trees on display, theres regular demos, sales, people to talk to and the National collection just down the road.... Well worth a bit of travelling to get to I'd say.

Due to work I'll be rocking up very bleary eyed on Sunday!! I would have loved to have a tree on display however I dont have anything quite worthy yet. Good luck to all and I look forward to seeing lots of fantastic trees this weekend!
So the Redwood turns to the Bonsai and says "Lend me a Tenner"......

Good luck everyone, I hope your show is a great success I wish I could have made it!
Shibui will have some excellent stock for sale, luckily for you he could only bring one load to Melbourne before returning home with an empty truck.
Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.

Well, what a great show the Canberra club puts on.
There was heaps of high quality trees there to gaze and drool over, great stock to purchase and if you are driving down plenty to see and do, you can see the last day of floriade or any of the many other things to do around the place like the war memorial.
Truly the bonsai is top notch and I picked up a awesome Scots pine for nix :aussie: from one of the tables.
There are so many people on bikes in this place and lucky for us at least half are females, not guys in tights.

Well I dont know which way you went Mick all i saw was men and women in trackies and woolen beanies!!! But back to the Show. Well done Canberra Club. I am very jealous of your venue. The standard of your trees is impressive. If you did not go to this show you have certainly missed out big time

Here are some photos taken at this show, which was really outstanding. The CBS secretary is said to have taken over 1000 pics, which will be posted on the CBS website in due course.
And maybe some other visitors to the show have some photos to post here?
