Bonsai - look and comment please

This is one of my bonsai, very different. let me know what u think please?

and the pot is to big for the plant

thanks pat, im new to the game so the advise is helpful. the pot looks really big in the photo. its a 7in or would u say that is still too big?

hey mick, up until a few weeks ago it was in my works shade house, but now its at home. i found the plant one day in the nursey at work, very stunted, so i started workin on it to keep it from growing into the normal sized shrub.

What is it and where do you live, most bonsai need to be out in the open and not kept in to much shade, this may be part of your problem.
If you are quite interested in bonsai you should join a club in your area.

Hi Greg and welcome. Your photo is a little small - is it a fig ? If so as mentioned needs to be in the sunlight and I am guessing probably hasn't been fed for a while. Could also need a repot.

i do not like the white Pebbles. to harsh and bright

the Pot size id OK if you are using it as a grow pot to develop the tree.

I agree with chris. Although the heading does say look and comment. What you do have to learn quickly on this site is that asking for anyone to make a comment will more than likely result in a heap of criticism of the tree or plant from which you need to draw positives from or learn from( which is a positive itself). I am sure the owner of this plant has learnt plenty from this already.

yes its a phildendron xanadu..... and yes it has had a feed but still a little deficient.

Welcome to ausbonsai

I'm new to bonsai too. The more I read, the more I realise how much there is to learn

A quick summary of what I've learnt so far:
- some people on this site can seem to be harsh in their comments, but they are just trying to raise the standard of bonsai in Australia. Don't take it to heart. (They all started somewhere - here's a thread where some experienced people have bravely posted their first plants [1] )
- join a club. I've been to 2 meetings now and it's well worth your time. Everyone I've met has been friendly and chatted my ear off
- search this site, it's full of information. In fact, many questions I've wanted to ask have already been answered.
- don't forget the wiki. Two good beginners' pages are keeping your bonsai healthy [2] and what to do each month [3].
- lastly, enjoy your plants. That's the whole reason for growing them

[edit] Should have added - be patient, it all takes time.
