As these plants do not have a branch structure as such, you cannot call it Bonsai.
So the negative comments are to tell a newbie to get the right material first.
No disrespect intended, it can be used as an accent with the proper tree.

This is the way it should have been put, Philodenron xanadu is a very unusual plant to choose for a bonsai. I don,t think I have ever seen a bonsai Philodendron before, it will be hard to make it a convincing bonsai. The white stone takes away from the tree, a more natural colour may be a bit more appropiate. and so on. This says what needs to be said about Greg's bonsai in a more constructive mannor.
Pup, have you got some sort of bonsai rule book.
Just because all your bonsai have branches (from what pics I have seen, very nice bonsai), doesn't mean every one elses, have to follow your interpretation. Eg. a bonsai depicting a palm/palms on a beach wouldn't have branching would it.
The point is, Greg firstly, should have been commended for having a go by himself, secondly, for choosing a plant out of the ordinary, which may or may not work as a bonsai. That's up to Greg and the skills he will develop if he get the right encouragement now.
Greg may be one that can take the bad news and look past it. Some cant and throw it in. I just look for the good points before I rubbish some one elses art work.

He asked for comments he got mine. Do you understand what Bonsai is it is a tree in miniature. Philodendron are not trees it is like saying look at my bonsai Orchid.
Palms have been used, but again they are more Penjing. I do not and have never subscribed to the Rules of Bonsai, as there are none they are guide lines.
My interpretation is what I believe is Bonsai or Penjing not a plant put in a Bonsai pot and called Bonsai.
My last word on this thread.
