Re: trident maple progression
That is a good deal Nishiki but it is going to need a bit of work unless you are heading for a formal upright.

Re: trident maple progression
I love the way a trident will completely colonize the bottom of a pot.
Nice trident,

Re: trident maple progression
i think it would be at least 5 years for the cuts to heal, and by then the branch structure should be on its way.

Re: trident maple progression
are the first 2 chops about 8 and 13 years old?--if so something needs to be done to help heal them over--there must be a technique to deal with such old large scars------perhaps carved out and wrapped to compress those areas--then placed in a large grow pot for 3 yrs or so and allowed to be a little rampant----

Re: trident maple progression
no serious plans at the moment because it has next to nothing for branch structure so it will take at least 2 years to have some style and structure, slowly slowly i think ken...

Slowly, slowly indeed. The hobby of Bonsai is something that each preceding generation might be lucky enough to fully appreciate in 'their' own lifetime.no serious plans at the moment because it has next to nothing for branch structure so it will take at least 2 years to have some style and structure, slowly slowly i think ken...
