Hi everyone.
It has been a while since I've been on the forum (travelling, being crook, PC crashed and burnt.. you name!) however I am back again BUT with something not necessarily Bonsai related (but depending on any response I receive it may in fact affect my Bonsai collection.
I have had a tremendous problem this year with snails, red spider mites, aphids, thrips, aphids, caterpillars but this one has got me stumped.
I was out putting up some shade cloth this morning and also checking out the front garden, which has received a bit more tender loving care than it usually gets (ie nothing). I had cut back some "Gardenia augusta "Florida" and they have started sending out new growth. When I took a closer look at a few of the plants it looked as if something had been eating the leaves. I thought perhaps the snails or even the caterpillars (I think they are from the White Cabbage moth) but then I saw this:
Sorry about the quality of the photos but trying to get close enough was a bit of a problem.
I went to Waldecks nursery (not sure if they are a national chain) and they helpfully told me they were "eggs". Thank you for nothing. That was the full extent of their response.
I know they are eggs, but can anyone suggest "eggs of what"?
Thanks

Re: Garden Pests
hi mashby,
looks like butterfly egg's. If they are on your citrus trees it could be a number of diffrnt breeds.
When they are on my trees i get sometimes four diffrnt colour butterflys. I dont know the names of them.
But the grub looks like bird poo on some. Others are just black grubs,& blck n whte grubs, and green n whte. So could be any of them. Good luck!
