Needle Juniper Pre Bonsai

Post by alpineart »

This was potted 3 years ago
100_9014.jpg
and yes ignored for what it was a pathetic little protrate ground cover put into a bonsai pot .

I cant recall ever training it in any shape or form so i removed 50% of the branches before repotting it
100_9017.jpg
After removing from the pot i was stunned to find no soil but 500-600mm roots wound around the whole pot .Not being in a scoria mix tells me it could have been here for more than 3 -4 years .After jimmying it out , i considered smashing the pot it was that tight it actually pushed the base up out above the pot rim the reason why it hadn't fallen out of the pot .

I have retained as much as possible of the roots so i put it into a deep pot 150-160mm

made by a local school student

Top to tail is around 350mm and 250mm wide

.Now this took some serious time over a couple of days but i think it will pay off in a season or two .

Cheers Alpineart
