privett

Post by Matthew »

Thought id post a pic of this privett. I collected it about 4 years ago on the south coast nsw in a paddock. I has had several styles over the years and ive now settled for this atm. the deadwood is all natural. it just had a heavy prune but will be a mass of growth in no time. its always been pruned as well. im not usally a fan of privett but this one has stayed with me.

Matt, you know how much I hate Privets........which is probably in response to the overwhelming quantity of collected trees of this species that have a big trunk and well, bugger all else going for them. So then people carve the shizenhousen out of them. Add some interest, create (or hide lack of) taper. A big trunk with holes in it. Much better. I bet on windy days they whistle at their owners. :tounge: :tounge: :tounge:

Ok so I'm not a fan, perhaps I have a complex.

You might just make me have a rethink, I can see a lot of positives in your tree. Perhaps there is a Privet that I would like to own? Who would have thought?

Cheers,
Mojo

:tu: Great tree Matthew,,, would you possibly consider reducing the overallmass and height of the foliage/crown ? I think it would improve the look of your privet alot, by bring your eyes closer to the deadwood, tying it all together nicely,,

100% agree with Craig, if you can bring that branch down it'll improve the tree ten-fold.

A beautiful tree Matthew. I have to agree with the comments but i think the whole foliage mass needs to be reduced and compacted.Having said that, i know that takes time and it is probably already on your radar.

Craig i completely agree with you i like the virt and ill see what i can do. lowering the top wont be a problem i think but getting that left hand branch down maybe challanging. when i get some time maybe on the weekend ill see what can
be done.

I didn't suggest bringing a branch down Matthew, all i did was bring the whole foliage mass lower, the first branch is where it was all along  i look forward to seeing it progress, :aussie:
