Protea and related genera?

Anyone have any info on using protea and other related south african protea's as bonsai? I know most have flowers far too large for anything but the largest bonsai but shold be some smaller flowered species out there. Always tempted to pick one up from bunnings

As far as I know they are very sensitive to root disturbance.
