I got a harwood wisteria cutting today thats just begining to shoot, are hardwood cuttings very successful with wisteria?

they like to shoot foliage before roots so dont make the mistake of pulling it out too early because there wont be anything happening on the bottom.

yes, I had 20mm -50mm cuttings that took roots. But rotting is an issue with thick cuttings. It could be a bit too warm now for thick cuttings as they will shot up nicely but then will not take roots quick enough to support the new foliage.
Try to keep them moist all time and keep them in shade.

Another question, is it too late now to be taking wisteria cuttings? I have access to soft and hardwood cuttings and wondering if its worth trying now? The last one did root but it got knocked out of its pot and broke the tip of the new root and now the foliage has died back

Too hot for wisteria cutting John. If you have access to them, you could try airlayering thick branches. Airlayering could take as fast as 4 weeks with good care.

Thought so, i'll leave them till next year, plenty of wisteria's round, will grab cuttings when the time is right.
