ficus nerifolia

After using the search function on here a few times and having not much luck i was wondering if anyone can help me regarding this type of ficus.(i think some ppl call them "willow leaf figs".
what i want to know is you seem to be able to fuse alot of figs but can it be done on nerifolia ?? Any tips on ways to be successful??

i have about 30 of them in small pots a bit larger then a coffee cup and was hopeing to start doing something with them while im on holidays and the weather is hot...
Planning to put some in larger pots and use some for a group planting down the track but that still leaves me with a few to do something differant with..

I am trying to fuse some at the moment. They are slower growing than some other figs but they do fuse quite well. have seen some from Florida and Malaysian bonsai artists that I'm sure we're fused.

They do fuse but it takes a bit of time and growth to fuse them.

Jerry; you have a large one on your home page is that fused?? sort of looks like a banyan style?? Any special things that need to be done to help the process??

Steve; have read that and there is another couple on here as well,one from jamie is good...

Going to do a few and keep a pic diary as such to see how it goes..maybe post it up if it works

My large Ficus Willow Leaf is not fused.
I have a much smaller one that I created with fusion. For the best fusion you need lots of growth and a way to fix the trees to each other so that they do not push each other apart as they grow. I use a plastic tie that does not stretch.

Thanks Jerry being a "sparky" by trade i have hundreds of cable ties...was going to try cable ties but was worried about them digging into the trunks as the trees grow did you have this problem ???.what i do have is a rubbery based electrical tape that is used for jointing in the electrical industrie...thinking of trying this as it should allow for abit of movement with out the scareing ..

Perhaps i will try both the ties method as your saying and try using this spliceing tape on some others...Bit of research for all seen as i have the trees there is no harm in giving it a go...
Can you post a pic of your fused willow leaf ??

I ordered a Ficus s. '89 from Erik Wigert and it has two trunks right next to each other which I plan on fusing together. I would think the '89 variety would fuse faster since it grows faster.

Likely to fuse faster if growth is faster. Growth and compression are the keys.
