These were collected yesterday after a visit to the river
I should be able to replicate the collected material from up the Northern Hemisphere in a relatively short period using quality materials with characteristics like these . I will be making another visit to the river just for the sole purpose of collecting a few more before they are burnt or removed .
Cheers Alpineart
. Last year a Tornado hit Myrtleford and flattened a large amount of River Red Gums along the Ovens River , some have bases around 1.8 meters in diameter and a huge 3.5-4.0m root masses .These are a few of the exposed roots from the trunks that were too big for the council to move .Being out in the weather for about 12 months has dried the bark enough to simple peel it off , well almost . Anyway these will be used for Phoenix Grafts having very good character and movement , now all i have to do is find a few Junipers or plants to strap too them .Red Gum Roots

Maybe it's just me, but I'd look at getting some native species screwed to those bendy sticks... What about resurrecting your River Red roots using some River Red seedlings?Anyway these will be used for Phoenix Grafts having very good character and movement , now all i have to do is find a few Junipers or plants to strap too them .

Looking forward to updates!

Re: Red Gum Roots
Hi V-S , always collect for a purpose . They will come in handy one day , even if i never use them .
Hi FlyBri , i have endless river reds that could be collected some have trunks like these roots , i just struggle to keep them alive .I'm still learning how to hack the buggers out and keep them green .Every summer thousands sprout in the river gravel only to be washed away in Winter . I might grab a few handfuls and fuse them in the shape of these roots ..
Cheers Guys .Alpine

Re: Red Gum Roots
I think these would look good as a dragon, sitting on top of a mountain..
