I've got a Mugo that has had an infection of scale. I did not notice until the tree's colour started changing. The older foliage was going from yellow to brown from the older foliage outward. The trunk, branches and foliage was covered in the little white tufts - think thats woolly pine scale. I also noticed there was the brown scale bumps over most of the foliage. I started spraying with home made white oil, which seem to have taken care of the scale but the tree is still seems to be going backwards. Is it ok to use White oil on pines? I just read in another thread, White oil may be bad?
The branches are continuing to dye off, but there is still new growth occurring. I have not sprayed it for months, I did inspect it closely today and there is a little scale. I'll try to add some pics tomorrow.
Any tips advise would be greatly appreciated.

I am not a pine expert but you may have to prepare for a burial. Usually conifers are long gone by the time the needles start browning off. Happy to be wrong

Little white tufts may be Mealy bug so spray with Confidor. It can't hurt.
