Hi all
I had the chance to visit Bonsai Northside Nursery earlier in the week and came back with the following trees. It is my first Green Island fig for my collection. It has a nimber or arial roots on the left hand side but has some reverse taper when viewed from the right hand side. Not quite sure as to the style but need to look at it a little longer to see the tree within.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. How much work can the figs cope with re bending and wiring?
For the benefit of the members, I also picked up two bags of Mt Sylvia Diatomite for 13.60 each from Redcliffe Produce just down the road - the best price i've seen anywhere actually.
Cheers
Stew

Hi Stew
You bought some nice trees there. Figs will take a lot of work at one time. It's a good time now to chop. I'm currently defoliating mine now. I'm sure that you will get lots of suggestions. I would go for an informal upright style. Good luck!

Hi Stew
The aerial roots won't help with reverse taper - over time you will find the trunk will thicken above the aerial root faster than below it. I would grow on the first fig before wrrying what to do with it. The figs can take a caning at this time of year - you can do virtually anything with them. Always buy my Mt Sylvia from Redcliffe Produce - it's about $6.00 a bag cheaper than anywhere else
