Lonicera
I listed my favourite specie as Lonicera so I feel that I should show some. The reason that I like and recommend them to new growers is their ready response to pruning and their speed of growing. I'm rather partial to Larix varieties too.

Re: Lonicera
Good one Stymie, nice small leaves. I did try a Lonicera natida some time ago without success, must have another go.

Re: Lonicera
They are sold as hedging plants and like all such material they bud back and branch quickly when clipped. I have been branded as growing topiary rather than bonsai but what the heck.
Hey, I've got a tool in my roll

Re: Lonicera
Great posts guys, thanks. Looks like it reacts to pruning the same as Japanese Box does.
