Re: Ficus microcarpa Var. hillii
I concur with your questioning of the ID Ash - it seems like a chameleon fig. The first pictures look like a hilli but the last photos look like a natalensis.

Re: Ficus microcarpa Var. hillii
Seems to be the case Jerry - the leaves look more like natalensis than hillii. Can we some some close ups of the hard wood on the branches ?

Re: Ficus microcarpa Var. hillii
As a photographer you make a great bonsai artist
It's still hard to see but if it has sort of dark stripes running along the wood it is a natal fig. The hillii new leaves are a much brighter green than the new leaves on a natal fig.

Re: Ficus microcarpa Var. hillii
Update on this old Fig. Confirmed it is a natelensis can mods please change thread title? @steven
Thread graft failed had to regrow Apex. Has been slow growing with this one, might Chuck it back into a larger training pot soon to kick it on and develop a decent crown.

Re: Ficus natalensis - Natal Fig
A larger pot to form the new apex might be just the ticket.
Usually natalensis are very powerful growers.

Re: Ficus natalensis - Natal Fig
Yeah I have have taken cuttings from this tree and they are powering on in larger pots. The growth rate is phenomenal. I think I will pot this one up on the coming weeks.
