I needed to rewire a couple of my junis which i love except it kills the hands.... bloody chalkie's tender fingers....

I thought i'd post them for your comments. The first one has a long curve from above and not sure if i should just shari one whole branch as there are four windswept branches and four is not a pleasing number to the eye. What do members think? There is a lot of movement away from the viewer and i've tried to bring it back and keep the levels seperate. I wanted it to look sparse and barren .... What sort of pot would suit this design

The second has just had it's first pot up and still not sure if it is the right one. I was looking for a semi cascade style.

Hi Stewart, I think your tree would look better if you wired the branches to flow with the main trunkline and then curved them out on the tips, so the whole tree looks to be flowing in one direction.

I agree with Craig, it you are trying to accomplish a windswept then it needs to flow in the same direction. Its going to be a fine tree. I also agree with the fingers thingy, i wear gloves when i spend a day with juni's. There are light cotton gloves with rubber palms that work a treat only the occasional prick.

Hi Stewart,

With the first tree try uncrossing all the branches and perhaps repot it on more of an angle to the right. If you're after a windswept style generally all the branches and trunkline should be going in one direction. Have a look at the WIKI page under "Bonsai Styles"

I was not sure of the big turn in the overhead shot of the #1 juni, so i'll straighten it out and take it from there. the crossing branches will need to be attended to - i may even jin a whole branch as yet....
Chipper, when you say to the right, do you mean that it needs to angle DOWN to the right more? Sorry not too clever here. Bodhi i'll have to try some of those gloves because i was reacting to the pricks the next day!
ADO - i'd love to see your J. Foemena if you had a shot...

Hey Stew - my J. Foemena is not a pretty site as it has sparse foliage at the moment (too enthusiastic with the pruners) but it is coming back and I reckon a year in the ground it will look great. Maybe a picture then
On another note, I was in you fair town for a conference in Dec last year. Was a pleasant stay and people are really friendly.
