Ligustrum..Italian Privet? and old Japanese pot.
I have been working on this tree for many years now and, after an offer on it, have decided to keep it and keep developing it as a personal tree. It is one of those trees that i did not know if i wanted to retain or sell it. When pushed on the subject it became obvious that i wanted to keep on developing it. It is an old, collected tree and it has lent itself to Bonsai very well. Like most Privet the leaf size comes down well and has no problems throwing new buds. I think it is an Italian Privet (Ligustrum Ovalfolium) but maybe someone out there can nail it for me? The pot has been posted before and is something i bought back from my visit to Omiya a couple of years ago.

It certainly is a keeper. The pot is earmarked for something else though.matlea wrote:That's a keeper. Nice looking trunk and movement
Hi Scott, Jow i.d,ed as a black clay Kouyou. You will be happy to know the privet is in it only on a temporary basis. It is earmarked for another tree that is in a growing pot and developing ramification. It is a few years away yet.Scott Roxburgh wrote:Not a huge fan of privet, but great little pot...Koyo? Love it mate. You could bonsai weeds and make them look good Bodhi !!!! . For what it's worth though I would chuck the moss and put some fresh stuff down but do a 50/50 split with pebble and moss.

Nice tree Bodhi,
but the pot is something very special

A friend once said to me.........."If they compliment the pot the tree is unimpressive"
So.........is the tree for sale

Q: Why are we all here?

The moss is on my property and it is a Winter moss which goes this colour in Summer but then turns to a nice green in Winter. But you are right, it is a little sad looJester wrote: For what it's worth though I would chuck the moss and put some fresh stuff down but do a 50/50 split with pebble and moss.
