G,day Paul the biggest problem with your tree at the moment, is yes it had/ has a lot of curves in the TRUNK. But none in the branches, to create a tree that is nice the branches need to mimic the trunk. IE straight trunk straight branches Curved trunk curved branches.

It will also distract from the monotony of the S bend that is upsetting to a few here.

FYI most comercial trees that are ground grown forBonsai. have multiple bends put in them hoping that by the time they are sold they will have softened.
As most comercial Satsuki Azaleas are.

Have a look at the Chinese Elms from China, in Europe in a 15cm tree they have 4 bends.

Just my :2c: Pup

Ps The tree that Craig has shown was created from nursery stock bought in march 2009, It was shown at the AABC seminar in Fremantle 2011. It is featured here in a post what can be acieved quick time.

Dont forget to start pinching your foliage to encourage backbudding Paul. You are going to need to bring your foliage closer to the trunk. It is starting to come along.

Thanks guys for all the feedback .

I like the movement in the trunk now and am not to worried about any thing other than getting it to thrive and back bud. It will need repotted this spring so I can get it into a better mix and bare root one third of the root ball.

Pup. I here what you are saying about the branches but I figure being a evergreen tree you are only going to see the start of each branch when I get more growth so why worry about putting movement in them I will style it keeping in mind what u said. There is a branch Comming from the front one inch below were the chop was made I am planning to use that to cover the transition and the top bend.

Paul.
