Dremel accessories

Hi Guys,

I am going to go out and gets me a dremel for future carving work, I have an olive stump in mind.
Can anyone suggest which " bits" are the most useful and longest lasting?

Hi Paul,
There are many dremel bits to choose from. Only use it for fine, small work myself as I've burnt out two of them in my time. So if your olive stump is small them you'll have no worries. But if its a big one then your maybe better off getting a die grinder and larger carving bits such as samurai and shogun. Maybe even an arbortech. Have no idea of part # of the dremel bits. Talk to the store assistant, maybe they'll know? Check online on their website

Hi Paul,
I have both a Dremel and a die grinder. As Andrew mentioned, be careful not to try and do real heavy work with the Dremel.

When choosing bits for the Dremel, select cutters with open teeth. If you get cutters with fine teeth they will block up very quickly when grinding wood. Have a small wire brush handy, stop and clean out the teeth regularly during use. You may find you need to stop for periods of time and let the cutting bit cool down.

I find the multi purpose cutting bit 561 is the most handy for the Dremel. That, a gas torch and some wire brushes are all you need

a small Samurai or similar is handy
I have a home made Equivalent that Brett sent me that works like a charm ( until I broke the shaft on the weekend
Brett do you still have small lathe available?
