Post by The Hacker »

Hi All

Would like to share these photo's with you they were taken in the very early 90's & are of the late Joe Micallef's JBP over a rock, I have many more but this is just a start hope you like, if so keep a lookout for some more of his very nice tree's to inspire you that I will post over tne next few month's. Ps if anyone know's or has any photo's of this tree now it would be great to see how it has changed over the past 20 year's.

Yes, the blue C. atlanticus at the entrance, bought by a consortium for the NBPCA, not long before Joe died. It's a relatively young tree by Joe's standards. I know an old friend of Joe's who has some of his trees and maybe I can get some photos in due course.

Hi Hacker,
A recent article on this forum made the suggestion that we pay tribute to past Australian bonsai artists.
I believe that this thread (with the title Joe Micallef) should be the beginning of a tribute to Joe and his work. Hopefully you will be comfortable with people adding to this thread with any information concerning Joe's bonsai life, not just the tree you have shown as an opener.

Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.

Hi Gerard,

I think that would a great idea, we have had many great bonsai people in australia & we should not forget them as they gorw some very nice bonsai, it would be great to see some photo's of these tree's posted of them now just to see how they have growen, I have lot's of photo's from the late 80's & early 90's which I plan to post over the next few month's, so if anyone has some of Joe's tree's feel free to ad them to this post for all to see

Enjoy this one folks. Made by Joe in the mid 60's using a tree from a rare plant nursery near what is now Googong Dam. :tu2:
