Collected Radiata Literate
This tree was collected in April 2010 from a closing down Christmas tree farm. The root ball was decent at the time of collection however by the time it got home, almost all the soil crumbled away. Therefor lets call it bare rooted and went straight into this bonsai pot. From day 1 this tree went gang busters and grew very vigorously. Today it has had branch selection and the front chosen. The shari is natures own i just peeled the bark away to reveal it. Next will be a good rack and style !!! CYA SOON...

Hey pal how are ya ??? Soft maybe ??? I believe this tree to be possibly 20 yrs +. alot of dead wood in the first 300 mm... So the bends need to be calculated. One major bend per year. Yep Donnie i'm gonna listen to you. Hence why this material will not see a demo or workshop !!! Its just to good. This winter we will do the first bend and style the branches into position. Thanks mate i will keep you posted.

a Queenslander once told me the same thing. Doesnt work here !!! I find the best times in spring and Late summer when the candles are just beginning to elongate.
I take a big root ball and i dont chop anything off the tree the first year.
The chop tops were like that when collected, they died. the tall trees survived and are now copped.
Hope this helps
