Ishitsuki Port Jackson Figs
This was an entry into the Native comp Last Year , i dont have the original pics as all were lost when my computer died . "Maybe a Moderator could slip-pot the pic from the competition"
. Its had a rework to improve the balance however its not complete yet .I'm a patient bloke so i'm still looking for another fig to slot into the right hand lower section .Whilst i have a couple of dozen smaller trainers the just dont fit the bill .Yes i still water it with a garden hose honestly they wont wash off .Cheers Alpineart

Hey Alpine,
Its a pity you dont have the old pics, its coming along well.. A few more figs & lots more roots
Did you tie the trees onto the rocks in any way when you first put it together?
Is it rock? or???

Hi Matt , the only pic is in this Gallery ,i have sent the hard drive away for recovery but its wait and see about the 8500 pics on it .The Figs were placed on the base with a single wire for about 1 week then removed . Every now and then if a root need restraining against the rock , a "hook and hold" wire is placed from groove to groove and over the root . The rock is constructed from Villa Board/cement sheet which was glued together with a construction adhesive , then rendered and waterproofed several times .It semi hollow however it weighs around 25 kg so it wont blow over and it sit atop a 4 caster trolley for ease of moving .Cheers Alpine

I just have to say WOW! That's amazing, my favourite tree is the one right on top, with the curvy roots sitting around your 'rock'. Do you know what kind of moss? How did you get them to hold to the stone and do they stay there full time or just for presentation. How long did it take to get to that stage?

Hi Roar , the moss is collected from my yard and grown in a shade house , dont know it by name . The figs were placed onto the rock and where possible the roots were encouraged to fit into the crevices ,a wire was placed short term ,around a week was to be enough . They are there to stay , i wouldn't go to all that trouble just for presentation alone . It took around 60 hours to construct the original Ishitsuki ,it is about 10 months old .
Hi Jerry ,thanks mate its moving in the right direction

Re: Ishitsuki Port Jackson Figs

Would love to see how these have progressed over the last year & see if you found a fig to fill that spot...

Re: Ishitsuki Port Jackson Figs
Hi MattA , mate i couldn't find a fig for the life of me . I gave up and fused a couple of the cuttings i took from the original top tree but its a work in progress again . I did have a mealy bug infection between the fused trunks so it has damaged the fused trunks over the last couple of weeks . If and when it leaf's out i will update the progress .The top 2 tree have finished leaf out after the defoliation , but the fused trunk is now struggling and its getting colder so i may struggle for quite some time .
Cheers Alpine
