Re: Repotting Azeleas
From what I have read the best time is after flowering in spring
https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/wiki/index.php?title=Azalea
Although I will stop mine flowering this year and repot earlier.

Re: Repotting Azeleas
Yep after flowering, If you want to do earlier you can do them during flowering if you remove all the buds and flowers.

Re: Repotting Azeleas
I remember Arthur Robinson - Akaruhi - saying that the Japanese repot their Azaleas in Winter. I can't find that post again, worse luck, but I am certainly going to try it with mine. In another post Arthur says to make sure that the roots point downwards, not horizontally, so that you get a good nebari. Not sure how that works, though.

Re: Repotting Azeleas
YES !! Those are the posts I was looking for, exactly. Many thanks, Craig.
Over the years I've heard many different kinds of advice and have repotted my azaleas at many different times, all according to people who said that they never had a failure with their system. Well, I wasn't so lucky and I'll be glad this time to try what Arthur describes and advises. At least he is a genuine authority, and so are the Japanese growers he observed. Of course, if people here are certain that they have a fail-proof system, far be it from me to tell them to change it.
