hi viet how are you. as i said to leigh practising refining techniques. it could make a fine informal upright but as you probably know i'm not easily pleased and am always looking for a better direction. personally im not satisfied with the roots but we shall see in spring. thanks for the encouragement.daiviet_nguyen wrote:Hi Antonio,
Keeping busy... I can seeI like the surface root of this pine. I feel that you are making
it into some kind of formal/informal style?
I feel that you will have to keep close eyes on the ramification of the foliage pads?
Best regards.

Re: jbp2
Its good to see a beginner just having a go with pines. Most beginners will stay away from pines for many years, shame really - once you know, they can make such powerful bonsai.
Cheers,
Leigh.

Re: jbp2
Already influenced by Dan Robinsons book !!! Pity my material doesnt stack up
New direction for this one but now needs deadwood work and further tweaking , couple years away from my final vision for it .
Ps nearly ripped the left hand branch off not sure if it will make it
but im confident its chances are good after some good surgery and support.
Almost an approach graft

Yes mate you and others were right !!! It has taken me till now to warm to Dan and now i have a much deeper appreciation for him. Definately will incorporate his philosophies in some of my Bonsai... The biggest lessons have been on how to collect trees in the wild!!! Yes im hoping to pick up that book off Jan this weekend so i too can have one.miyagiman wrote:hey ant, it appears you like the book i recommended. I am taken with his natural approach too.
