NSW Royal Easter Show Fri 13th - Sat 14th April

Post by kcpoole »

Hi all
many people may not know, but there is a Bonsai section in the Royal Easter show and the sponsors provide great Cash prizes to encourage high quality entrants.
1st = $100, 2nd = $50, 3rd = $20.
Over the last few years, there have been not many good trees, and many quite laughable ones.

There is a push on to improve the quality of the entries and display to get trees that deserve to win $100.
The entries close this week ( Wednesday 21st) so you better be quick.
Costs $30 to enter, and you can enter up to 10 trees per entry. http://sydneyroyal.com.au/1066.htm

Picked up my trees last night after a very successful display :tu2:
I was at the show yesterday during the day and there would have been at least 10 - 15 people in the room looking at all times. The comments being made were very encouraging to hear, so hopefully lot of new people have been exposed to Quality Bonsai.
Unfortunately, I did not win or place, but that is not why I put my trees on display.

No I did not get photos of the winners with their Ribbons :-), To busy when I went during the day.
The Cascade Pyracantha in Fruit was a Section winner ( 2nd Photo) and the grand Champion was the Pyracantha Clump.

Anyone else have any?

The lovely juniper placed 2nd in Any Other Style.

It was the best bonsai display the Royal has ever had. Some really stunning trees win/place/show or no.... really illustrated the art of bonsai.
