Just Because I liked It

Post by Watto »

Today we had the meeting for the Goulburn Bonsai Society, and on the display bench was a Chinese Elm. Now this Elm was about 120mm tall (shohin) and in a Mudlark Pottery pot. I understand it was grown from a root cutting a couple of years ago and in my opinion it was just nice. It won the "cutesie" award for the day.
I hope you enjoy it too?

sweet tree Watto, Yours?
the top of the tree looks a little wild and unkenpt, is that planned?

On a similar note, I picked up a small trident maple today at the sale with nice taper and bark on the trunk, It will be a little bit smaller after chopping back, but will end up about maybe 6 inches.

I agree with that sentiment, but it was Morten Albecks comment of (less is more) that struck a chord with me.

Nice little start.

Cheers Pup

Hi Watto

Very nice tree, root cutting's are the only way to go with chinese elm's as they tend to get the most nailly trunk's & develop very quickly into amazing tree's very simlier to what you have posted so if you do have a chinese elm the next time you give it a root prune plant the root's & then keep us posted on the out come, Ps just check out some of The Pup's little mini elm's as I'd say most of them are from root cutting's

Ken,
It is supposed to be wild and rugged to match the pot, but the velvety green moss tells another story? Oh well.
