Workshop at the Mornington Peninsula Bonsai Club

Post by alpineart »

Well its been and gone , but this has been the highlight of my time here at Ausbonsai. To finally meet up with Pup :worship: and to watch him in full flight rip into the stock on the tables with the greatest of ease :tu: . I had the pleasure of taking Sonic976 along for the trip and to catch up with the Hacker ;) .My plan was to Chat , Watch , listen and learn and that i did .From one of the oldest to one of the youngest

the pleasure to see these two Ausbonsai members together was priceless

.I don't think sonic will let me forget about my wiring issues :? , thanks to the Pup for pointing out my errors ,crikey i only wired 2 little branches and got it wrong :palm: well worth the ear bashing on the long trip home .The Hacker finally got around to working a Douglas Fir /False Canadian Hemlock i gave him many years ago

with the assistance of pup or be it the Hacker looking on .Pup did rip into a Nigra with a problematic large reverse taper and whipped it into a nice little Shohin for the future . Plenty of work required to alleviate the taper but its a challenge i look forward too

. Time poor as i had other commitments but i did manage to rip into this Nigra , heeding the advice of Pup and finding the smallest tree within

. To top the day off was a visit and intro' with John M and i stood in awe for the time spent chatting and totally bowled over by the quality of his Bonsai . Camera's don't do justice to his Material , while it probably makes mine look rather good i now know i have at least 1 Bonsai amongst the many plants at my place , then again i have never claimed to have any bonsai only trainers :| .

Once again , many thanks to Pup , John Henry , The Hacker , Sonic976 , Mrs Pup and the Mornington Peninsula Bonsai Club for a day i will never forget and for the priceless talk time , video's and pics taken on the day .

All the very best in Bonsai .Cheers Alpineart

A long way from home for you Alpine but looks like it was well worth the effort.
Visiting John is a privalege,
Great to see Pup sharing himself around Victoria,
and nice to see that Hacker has regained his enthusiasm in a big way.
Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.

Hi Gerard, a heck of a long on a leg that hasn't healed but it was a long standing plan and commitment from my end and hell would have had to freeze over before it was missed . Inspiration and enthusiasm was definitely the order of the day .Paying the penalty today but even that is worth every effort .

Cheers Alpine
